A guide to voting in Virginia. Jennifer Boysko, Virginia Democratic House Caucus.

Right now, we are focused on getting Virginia voters registered before the deadline of Monday, October 15th. Here are some things to keep in mind before that important date.

October 15th is also the last day to update your address for the general election.
If you have a 17-year-old child who will be turning 18 by Election Day, make sure they’re registered, too. Here’s how to register in Virginia.

Remember to bring your photo ID to the polls. Polling places will be open from 6am to 7pm on Election Day, and you will be able to vote as long as you’re in line by 7pm. Learn more about the candidates running for office here.

You not only will be voting for Congressional candidates, but also for or against two State Constitutional Amendments. According to the Virginia Department of Elections, the first proposed amendment authorizes local tax exemptions for owners of property that floods who made improvements to manage the issue. The second proposed amendment will remove a restriction on a tax exemption for surviving spouses of disabled veterans.

Thank you,
Jennifer Boysko
