APA Central Division Meeting: The Teaching Hub.

American Philosophical Association

Have you registered for the 2019 Central Division meeting, February 20–23 in Denver, CO? If not, take a moment to register online now!

This year, the popular Teaching Hub, a two-day series of workshops and sessions that address the teaching of philosophy at all levels, which has been part of recent Eastern and Pacific Division meetings, will be held in conjunction with the Central Division meeting for the first time. The Teaching Hub, sponsored by the APA and the American Association of Philosophy Teachers, will run from Thursday, February 21, through Friday, February 22, 2019. Central Division meeting registrants are invited to attend any or all of the sessions. The 2019 Central Meeting Teaching Hub will include the following sessions (visit the APA website for more details):
  • Teaching Philosophical Writing
  • Walk-In Teaching Consultations: One-on-One Sessions with Expert Teachers
  • AAPT Workshop: Innovative Pedagogies for Teaching Sexual Ethics
  • Jobs and Careers: How to Get and Keep a Full-Time Position at a Community College
  • Building and Sustaining Faculty Unions
  • Non-Western Philosophy for Undergraduate Ethics Courses
  • Teaching Core Texts: Plato’s Apology
  • Best Practices in Teaching Philosophy: Argument Mapping
  • The National High School Ethics Bowl Program: An Outreach Opportunity for Philosophers
  • Closing Reception: Undergraduate Research and Faculty SoTL Poster Session

Early bird registration rates ($125 for APA members, $240 for non-members, and $40 for student members) are available until online registration closes on February 6. Central meeting registration will not be available February 7 through February 19. You will be able to register on-site at the meeting; however, on-site registration rates will be $50 higher than early bird registration for all categories. If you haven’t already done so, renew your membership for 2018–2019 now to be eligible for the APA member registration rates.

You’ll save an additional $5 on meeting registration if you opt not to receive a paper copy of the program. The meeting program is available online, and our free meeting app for smartphones and tablets also contains the full program. (Room locations will be added to the app on the first day of the meeting.)

We look forward to seeing you in Denver!

All the best,

Amy E. Ferrer
Executive Director

P.S. Make your hotel reservations today! The APA group rate of $185 per night (plus applicable taxes and fees) is available at the Westin Denver Downtown until January 29.
